First Update from Elmhurst
As the few faithful readers can tell, the move from Knoxville to Elmhurst along with my new role at work has taken a huge toll on my ability to invest time in such lofty pursuits as blogging, e-mailing, sleeping or sleeping.
Let me start by saying that we love it here. The biggest impression after a month is that we live in a place with a ton of great amenities such as a brand-new public library which is huge and well-stocked (and has a Lavazza Espresso bar), a close walk to the Metra station, several nice downtown eateries, a killer old-school hobby shop, nice restored downtown movie theater and tons more. It's also interesting that although much of the bill for the quality of public services, parks, libraries and schools is footed by our many neighbors living in 1-2 million dollar homes, there is a very obvious lack of pretension here. It's a very nice blend of people - both old and new.
We've taken advantage of the close proximity to Chicago at least one day every weekend so far. In particular, we've already hit Chinatown three times.
Our furniture arrived this week and Tasha has done a killer job of putting everything in its place (providing there is room for it).
We're starting to have a real home here and it's nice to be somewhere I could see staying for a while.
Expect to hear much more from me in the coming weeks as we get settled in and I finish up huge project at work that will be finished next Friday.
Dude, your blog is sick. Most blogs go something like this: Blah, blah, blah...etc. But, yours is worth the read. I suppose it helps that I know you, but even if I didn't, it would still be cool. It is sweet to see you guys doing well. I hope you enjoy Chi-town as much as we do when we go. Don't miss the Shed and the planetarium. Plenty of culture to soak ones soul.
