 Redneck Ingenuity

Finally an explanation for my apparent lack of genius from the National Institute of Mental Health.

The brains of very intelligent children appear to develop in a distinctive and surprising way that distinguishes them from less intelligent children, a federal study reported yesterday...
...The new study found that the cortex continued to thicken in gifted children until around age 11 or 12, much later than in children of average intelligence, whose cortex thickening peaked by age 8.

So here's my theory - really gifted kids mature much later than "underachiever" kids. Maybe even sometimes the "underachiever" kids will be much brighter later in life. In my case it seems that I'm probably super-super smart and just a late-bloomer. Happy Day!

OK - maybe not - but it's a nice idea isn't it?
