RadioShack Will Be Missed - Won't They?
Anyone who's visited a Radio Shack in the last 5 years knows the store has been struggling to keep its old niche while jumping into new market segments.

The major problem is that they've scaled back what they were good at - selling arcane electronic parts and cool tech toys with spring-connected wires, lights, buttons and buzzers - and tried to jump into areas they can't handle, personal computers, cell phones, and home theater. Others have noticed the impending irrelevance for some time so I'm not going to drone on about it here.
My only concern is where to find that 470k resistor I need to fix the power supply on my new Apple MacBook Pro. OK - let's not go that far, but you know what I mean.
There really are some things you just can't get at Best Buy or Wal-Mart and if you live in a non-metropolis like myself (Knoxville) the choices are pretty limited. Looks like that extended warranty was a good idea after all.

you got a macbook pro? i've heard that trying to run non-intel pro apps in rosetta makes for some slow going. this true?
Dude, me a MacBook Pro? Oh, how I wish it were true. If it were I'd have been sending around "It's a MacBook Pro" announcement like a proud, new parent. We'll see... we'll see;)
expert advice steered me away from the macbook pro...too much, too soon--apple's been known to rush things out now and again...or every single time, to be more accurate.
i got a 12" powerbook instead...15" is just too damn big for my scrawny lap.
yes radio shack has lost there way in the world of cool electronics. if they brought back there buyers that travel the oreant of cool things. then they will bring back the interested customers.
